Data & Information Consent
The consent we ask for when you create an account. Under POPIA, consent has to be voluntary, specific and informed — so this page sets out exactly what you are agreeing to. The Privacy Policy explains everything else.
What you consent to
- We collect and process the personal information listed in the Privacy Policy, for the purposes stated there.
- We share it as the Privacy Policy describes: a business’s listing details on the marketplace, and the details needed to make, administer and repay funding with the businesses, investors and funding partners involved.
- Our service providers process it for us, and some of them do so outside South Africa.
- For businesses: we calculate a Trust Score by automated means, and it affects your credit limit and what investors see.
- Investment transactions are recorded on a public blockchain and cannot be erased.
- We contact you with service messages about your account, loans, investments and security.
What it means for you
If you are a business
Your business’s listing — its name, description, industry, images, Trust Score, verification status and loan details — is shown on the marketplace to investors and to visitors without an account. Your contact details, bank details, uploaded documents and full address are not. We may check what you tell us against your documents and public company records.
If you are an investor
We hold your profile answers, the address of the wallet we create for you and its encrypted key, and a record of your investments. We share your details with a business or funding partner only where needed to make or administer an investment. You confirm you are 18 or over and that the money you invest is lawfully yours; where the law requires, we may ask you to verify your identity.
If you are a funding partner
We use your work email and your organisation’s details to run your account and confirm who you work for. Contact details you add for your organisation’s representatives are used to run the account and, where you choose, to put you in touch with businesses and investors.
What you confirm
That the information you give us is accurate, that you will keep it up to date, and that you are entitled to give it — including information about other people, such as directors, staff or customers, which you may share only with their knowledge or another lawful basis.
What you are not agreeing to
- Marketing. News and offers are a separate opt-in, and creating an account is not one.
- The sale of your information. We do not sell it.
- Anything beyond what is listed here and in the Privacy Policy.
We ask only for what we need. If a field is optional, you can leave it blank.
Withdrawing consent
Email support@companionsfintech.com at any time. We will stop the processing that rests on your consent. Because the platform cannot run without it, that will usually mean closing your account. Withdrawing does not undo what we lawfully did before, we must keep some records because the law says so, and anything already on the blockchain stays there.
How we record it
When you tick the boxes we store the date and the version of these documents against your account, so we can show what you agreed to and when. If the documents change in a way that matters, we will ask you again.
